Webinar: ScottMadden's Energy Industry Update – Generation to Generation: An Energy Evolution

ScottMadden's Energy Industry Update – Generation to Generation: An Energy Evolution

We will be releasing our semi-annual issue of The Energy Industry Update. Themed “Generation to Generation: An Energy Evolution,” this Update examines a broad array of strategic issues propelling, and challenging, our industry and explores how utilities are responding and adapting to them. Between Illinois’ grid transformation progress, the future of utility solar, and changes to and potential solutions for FERC-regulated wholesale markets, the energy industry is changing significantly and for the long term. It is more important than ever to stay ahead of the curve. Topics include:

 • Nuclear Power-This section plans to lay out a roundup of recent events on new nuclear innovations. It also has a discussion on the industry and the government about the future of nuclear along with a small modular reactors update.

• LNG – This section includes an overview of the local developments in a Global Market, the status of LNG terminals in North America, an overview of changing global LNG market dynamics, outlook for demand and supply from US LNG export terminals and their status. It also covers possible implications for the North American gas market.

• Competition at the Crossroads – FERC has attempted to find a price formation construct in competitive electric markets that provides long-term market stability. It is a difficult economic problem that so far evades a simple solution. What is the problem? What is causing it? What can be done?

• Stirring Up the Generation Mix –Is nuclear generation at the risk of retirement with an increasing switch to wind and solar power generation? Does the “Two step forward, one step backward” mantra prove the strengthening of the production of the solar and wind energies juxtaposed to the nuclear, along with the credit of being the ‘non-emitting’ fuels?

Several of our experts will be leading a webinar on Friday, November 3 from 1:00–2:00 PM EDT. You can hear from our experts including Cristin Lyons, partner and grid transformation practice leader at ScottMadden; Paul Quinlan, clean tech manager at ScottMadden; and Stuart Pearman, partner and energy practice leader at ScottMadden.
