Study: Japanese advanced-reactor project is viable



 

Japan's plan to build next-generation light water reactors with a utilization rate of 97% is possible, according to a study by the Institute of Applied Energy. The project involves Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Toshiba and GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy and is an effort to increase domestic power diversification and help spur economic growth by selling the designs in other countries.
